Sho Dozono to Create Rainy Day Fund
PORTLAND, Or.- Since the beginning of his campaign, local businessman Sho Dozono challenged Sam Adams to support a responsible Rainy Day Fund that would protect essential basic services as we enter tough economic times. Dozono criticized the $5 million Sam Adams said he supports as totally
inadequate and fiscally irresponsible considering the tough economic times we are entering. In just the last few weeks, Adams has proposed unwise spending on pet projects --such as the bike bridge over I-405 -- that would break the bank of the Rainy Day Fund.

“There are clear differences between my approach to cost controls and spending money wisely and the ‘spend it all on pet projects’ approach of my opponent,” Dozono said.

“I want to be perfectly clear about this Rainy Day Fund idea. At the start of this campaign, my opponent objected to my call for a Rainy Day Fund, then he confused it with a bond reserve fund, then he embraced my Rainy Day Fund idea, and now he has identified so many spending ideas and such a puny amount for a Rainy Day Fund that it is clearly a hollow campaign stunt,” Dozono said.

“In my 100 Day Plan for the start of my administration, I have identified a target of $50 million for a Rainy Day Fund, coupled with a capital expenditure budget process to establish clear funding priorities for major infrastructure projects. I will also reject high-priced pet projects like the Burnside/Couch Couplet to save $80 million,” Dozono said.

“I urge people to go to my website www.shoformayor.com to review my 100 Day Plan,” Dozono said.
