Al Hess Hey, Sho
I almost moved to Portland just to vote for you.
Best wishes,
Al HessHeather Kennedy In only 5 months of campaigning Sho Dozono received 54,532 votes for mayor last night. Sam Adams has been campaigning to be mayor for at least 4 years. I sincerely hope Sho runs again in the future. I voted for the best person last night and have no regrets.Souriya It will be nice to have a good change! I look forward to casting my vote for someone who will have and get relevant agendas accomplished, go Sho!Bev Law Thank you for the brochure. I live in Corbett, but I'll encourage my Portland friends and relatives to vote for you!Alan Bonney I first signed on to help Sho with the petition for public finance in January, I find his collaborative leadership style to be refreshing that's what our city needs I also admire the fact that he is not a wonk, I am a cyclist with 27 years of riding for transportation and recreation and I think the Sauvie Island Bridge proposal is a waste of money. It's time we had somebody with Private sector Business experience in the Mayor's office for a change.Wayne Kigerl I know of a well known Portland business that is relocating across the river to Washington because of Portland's anti-business bias (remember Columbia Sports Wear?). They have the usual specific reasons (for example, Portland's requiring an electrical permit for each generator on the premises, etc, etc)and are vacating several industrial buildings. The owner has carefully researched the benefits for moving to Washington. The result: loss of portland jobs and income. I believe this could be used as a valuable political tool against Sam Adams and his arrogant anti-business bias(like trying to slam more parking fees down the throats of small businesses). Do you want more information? Would the Portland Tribune be an ally? David Blalock There is no better man to put in the Mayer's office than Sho Dozono.Aaron Sundholm As a native Portlander, and Grandson of a former City Councilman and Mayor; it is with great pride that I will vote for you to be our next Mayor. I look forward to meeting you next month at a gala my parents are having on your behalf.
Cheers.
Kay Waldrop I first me Mr. Dozono when he brought us passengers traveling to Japan. I was very impressed with his courtesy and respectful/appreciative spirit. Since then I have learned of his strong leadership and positive contributions within the community. Most importantly, I believe him to be a man of integrity. He is a man Portland would be proud to call mayor.Geoff Helzer Sho will be a stand for positive change in the downtown Portland core!! We need him at City Hall. As the General Manager of a restaurant downtown, I believe that a fellow downtown business man understands the very dynamic needs of our progressive city. Vote for Sho and lets bring back the new and improved "Bud Clark" style mayor with an edge!! steve Weiland My family and I are supporting you Sho for Mayor! We believe in your ability to do an excellent job as our future Mayor.
Sherry Wemple Sho truly cares about our city! His strong commitment to our community & schools, plus his public service, effective leadership and management skills are what we need for the City of Portland. Let's get those Lawn Signs Up for SHO!
Sherry Wemple (Ellmaker CHS class of '63)
Shari Gray Not many locally owned travel agencies were able to survive the devastating events of September 11th. Sho Dozono's business not only survived but thrived, while competing against large, out of state corporate travel conglomerates.
Sho's commitment to; taking care of the needs of Portlanders, keeping locally owned Oregon businesses at the forefront, while operating with integrity at all times, demonstrated to me as a competitor, that Sho Dozono has the character, integrity, tenacity and the following to accomplish anything he puts his mind to. My vote's for Sho, because I know he can take Portland places...I've seen him do it.Kilong Ung Your humility, respect for others, genuine community service, business success and love for your family got my attention. I would like to see you get a fair shot at becoming the next great mayor.Mike Rosenberg Sho has my support for mayor. I have had the pleasure of interacting with Sho in a variety of capacities including a staff member of a Board he serves on, running an event his company sponsored (which he sponsored to show community support more than strictly good business) and seeing him at a variety of other nonprofit/civic events. He’s a greatly respected leader who has always had sound advice. I cannot think of a better choice to lead Portland.Karen E. I've been interested in politics and government all my adult life and I'm 62. I've never contributed to a political campaign or put any kind of a sign in my car window, but for Sho, I've done both. As a businessman, he's done wonderful things for the community, so imagine what he can do as mayor. Dave Lister As one Eastside Guy to another, Sho Dozono is a guy I admire. During the age of the internet, when most traditional travel agencies were forced out of business, Azumano Travel not only survived but thrived. We need Sho's common sense, fiscal accountability and business skills to guide Portland through the tough times ahead.Karin Hansen Few civic leaders in Portland have achieved what Sho Dozono has for Portland.
He has brought jobs to Portland (Delta Airlines, NW Airlines), saved jobs (teachers), and provided jobs (250 Azumano Travel employees), as well as co-founding a non-profit, Portland Schools Foundation, to establish greater equity and improve education in our public schools. He is frequently recognized for his work toward equality and dignity for all people of Portland and Oregon.
For over 20 years, governors and mayors have sought his leadership and advice.
Sho Dozono has shown us by his actions, character and life experience, both personal and professional, both paid and unpaid, that he is qualified to be our next Mayor of Portland.
Sho Dozono does the right thing for the right reasons, even if he thinks no one is looking. That is why I am voting for Sho Dozono for my next Mayor of Portland.
Chad You have my vote, its time for a fresh change on this city. I have faith in you that you will improve funding problems and the economy, I'm glad you decided to stay, I was going to skip out on voting if all i had was the alternative.....Heather Kennedy Those of us familiar with Sho Dozono are not surprised that he surpassed the minimum 1,500 signatures (2403 and counting) in only 3 weeks. It's Sho time, and will be proud to cast my ballot for him as mayor of Portland.David Imagine the taxes Portlanders will be burdened with if Sam Adams becomes mayor!A. Stickel As the grim reports regarding the national economic outlook continue to roll in this city requires, now more than ever, a strong leader to emerge from our business community. Never before in our history has the flow of goods from and to our Pacific Rim trading partners been so vital to our region’s economic health and well-being. It is crucial that the city’s next Mayor owns the skill set necessary to mediate and negotiate in the multinational corporate arena, as well as effectively market our region through establishing outreach programs with foreign state representatives.
I think Mr. Dozono possesses all these skills, and I also think he realizes just what is at stake. None of us want the Portland of the future to look like the Flint, Michigan of today. Our region has needed someone with Mr. Dozono's credentials in that seat for much too long!
Best of luck Sho!Jackie Johnson I've had the pleasure and honor of working with Sho in the course of travel industry projects and advisory boards. There isn't a more honorable, motivated, knowledgeable and strong leader as a mayor than Sho Dozono. Doug Mercer GO SHO GO !
Knowing the heart you had as my Grant Wrestling Coach and mentor, I know you would be the kind of mayor Portland needs. So glad you are in the race!!! My family and I have turned in our signatures and $, on behalf of your campaign! Doug Mercer; Class of '74RONALD STRAWTHER HE WOULD MAKE A GREAT MAYOR!Debra Oyamada Go SHO!!!!

Portland can use leadership from someone with these qualities. Go Sho!Johnny Nguyen I will vote for Sho! The Portland Public schools need a leaderLinda Isako Angst From having learned about Sho Dozono's community service and local roots, as well as having had the opportunity to meet him and his wife recently at a dinner hosted by the Deputy Consulate General of Japan, I think Mr. Dozono would make an excellent mayor. Not only does he have the business acumen to do the job and keep us in good financial strength, Sho Dozono also has the sensibilities and sensitivies of working closely with families and students in Portland over the years, from the time he was a teacher at Cleveland High. It's also time that an increasingly multicultural city be represented by leadership from one of Portland's longstanding minority groups, Japanese Americans. I think Dozono has the necessary gravitas to do the job.Vicki Guinn What a pillar of this community! The family has a rich history and deep roots in the community. I'm so pleased Mr. Dozono is running and will support this effort any way I can. Vicki GuinnHeather Kennedy I have long admired the emphathy and support Mr. Dozono has shown to the city of Portland and the world. I would be proud to have him as Mayor of my native city.Dapo Sobomehin I would support Sho Dozono with my family. If the city elected Sho we got the best in our midst. Our city needs a man like Sho to put our city in the right direction. The city lacks capable leadership at present time. We are in trouble. As the world turns--we need a thoughtful, knowledgeable, and of course an aroma of a great culture.
Sho has demonstrated his love for the city--through his involvement in our school system, local issues, business community--and in all things that benefit our city of roses. I am glad to be part of the movement to elect Sho for the Mayor of Portland. Margy Christy Sho has his heart and soul invested in this city. I know he has the energy and commitment to serve as our next mayor.

Sho is that man. howard liebreich we need sho dozono to lead us into a better quality of life in portland.Sue and Bob Alperin
Sho has demonstrated that he is a businessman who knows how to be fiscally responsible, yet an activist who has compassion for those of all stripes and persuasians who need the support of all of us. I believe he is able to see the broader picture and seek answers to those parts that are problems. Lucy Allen Whitaker Sho would be a great mayor for the city of Portland.Nancy Hara Sho has vision, know-how and a love for Portland. Run Sho!George and Yone Hara We're proud to give our 100% support to Sho Dozono as next mayor of Portland. He is the right person at the right and critical time in Portland history. All the way with SHO!
Kenneth Thrasher Sho understands the needs of our city and region and we support his run for Mayor. He believes in a healthy city, healthy schools, healthy children and families, and a healthy infrastructure (roads, services, safety, etc). He, his wife Loen, and his children all contribute to Portland's success already, which is what leadership is all about.
Ken and Marta ThrasherSERGE D'ROVENCOURT I HAVE KNOWN SHO FOR OVER 20 YEARS.HE IS A SAVVY BUNINESSMAN WHO MAKES THINGS HAPPEN AND AS A MAYOR HE CAN BRING HIS EXPERTISE TO HAVE A VIBRANT CITY.
WITH HIS PHILANTROPIC AND OVERALL INVOLVEMENTS HE UNDERSTAND WHAT IS NEEDEDBruce M. Brenn Over the years Sho has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to Portland and Oregon. His actions have introduced this city and state to thousands of people, domestically and internationally. I doubt any candidate for mayor has ever done more in his private capacity for the public benefit of our community.Patrick & Dixie Eckford From the heart!
When we first heard of the possibility of Sho running for mayor we were at once excited and worried. Excited by the prospect of our city being led by such a talented, dedicated and effective social visionary; worried about the personal burden on Sho and Loen, of an inevitably grueling and testy campaign. But after hearing from both that they’re really up to that challenge, we most enthusiastically endorse the bid to have Sho lead our fair city.
We have long enjoyed a personal and professional relationship with Sho and have never ceased to be amazed by his energy, intellect, vision and humanity. He has a very rare combination of real world business background and a deep-seeded commitment to community and social justice. He’s gutsy and innovative and knows how to motivate others to achieve goals beyond their own expectations – traits that are extremely valuable for a mayor.
But above all the amazing qualities and achievements that can be attributed to Sho, to us what makes him stand out in this field is that his bid to serve our community really comes from his heart. He will make a great mayor – dedicated, passionate, tireless and visionary. And what a great ambassador for Portland! Go Sho!
Patrick & Dixie Eckford
Ed Harnden Sho is one of the most dynamic, innovative, forward-thinking, roll-up-your-sleeves-and-do-it people I know. He would be a great leader for Portland. Emily and I would support him wholeheartedly!John DesCamp What a great candidate! Experienced, good judgment, a man of character with a long history of serving the city and good relationships with a broad spectrum of the interests that shape our politics. And he has been a success in business and actually understands the city's economic structure. Can we have the election right now?DM Go Sho, Go! You have my vote!!!Norman K. Zeller For the benefit of all Portland it is a MUST that Sho Dozono be our next mayor. THE SHO MUST GO ON"" for mayor that is."Elizabeth Playfair Highly competent, innovative, experienced, and with a strong commitment to the community and public service, Sho's proven, effective leadership and private management skill is what the City of Portland is looking for and needs.Warren Oster Sho,

I will truly encourage everyone that believes in positive change and believes in someone that is prolific, has integrity, honor, a great family and pride for Portland and its citizens, and specifially knows that action speaks louder than words should support Sho Dozono. I will encourage everyone in all the various organizations and groups that I'm a member of to support Sho (and that's a large circle)!! What a breath of fresh air.David Austin Seeing Sho's tremendous support for causes that benefit Portlanders, Oregonians, Americans and the many people he has impacted through Mercy Corps is a great indicator of the kind of heart Sho Dozono has for mankind. Seeing him successfully navigate Azumano Travel through the technology revolution and maintain a great level of service to his employees, customers and this city demonstrates that he has a deep understanding of finances and transition.
Sho, join the race for Mayor! Rich Iwasaki Over the years, Sho has clearly demonstrated his outstanding leadership ability and skills. His wide-ranging experience and service as a civic leader and businessman easily qualifies him for the mayoral position. I'm sure the city of Portland would benefit greatly with Sho as the next mayor.Alexandra Sannen Sho Knows Portland!

Jones Midge Purcell Sho Dozono would make an excellent mayor. His business acumen combined with a long history of civic engagement is exactly what Portland needs to move forward as a prosperous city that is responsive to the needs of its diverse communities. It would be wonderful to have a candidate that affirms that Portland is a city where all cultures and communities have a role to play in the future of the city.Roberto Reyes-Colon I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Sho during my tenure at the metropolican Human relations commission in the early 80's.

His ongoing commitment to the community and his strong family values reflect those very traits we all desire and wish for in a leader.E. Ted Seitz Most excited that I have been about Portland politics in years (decades?). Rick D. Love As an employee of Sho's for almost 23 years, his involvement in the community, especially his commitment to the schools and education in general and our companies involvement in HIV/Aids awareness and education has allowed me to be more involved in causes I feel important and has made me a better parent, not being afraid to roll up my sleeves and getting involved in my children’s education.

"Patty Richardson It's been my privilege to see Sho in action numerous times since he led us to New York in the wake of 9/11, Thailand after the tsunami, and New Orleans after Katrina. I have seldom been personal witness to someone who both cares so much about his community and is aware of its needs. I think Sho would make a terrific leader for Portland.Larry Walker Sho.. I worked in Portland from 1971 to 1989 and witnessed the impact that a healthy Portland had on the entire State of Oregon.

Mark Sho Dozono is my choice candidate because he is the only candidate for mayor whose name would qualify him as a Jedi Master.Robert Haynes I think it is great you are staying in the race.
A check will follow.
I finally agree with Mr. Adams slogan
from his last campaign.
ITS TIME TO SHAKE UP CITY HALLMatt Morton As a member of Portland’s Native American community, I believe it’s important for our Mayor to understand the need to engage all communities in an honest, candid dialogue about the future of our city. Mayor Potter opened the doors to City Hall, and I know Sho will keep them open.
I have found Sho to be a quiet, effective leader concerned only with the best interest of Portland and its citizens. He's not driven by his ego, and outside of the campaign trail, you'll never hear him boast of his 30+ years as a successful, innovative businessman and community activist.
These are the reasons I’m supporting Sho to be our next Mayor.
Ric Zittenfield We will make this short and sweet......IT'S SHO TIME!!! Oh! And the check is in the mail.
Ric & Carol ZittenfieldState Sen. Avel Gordly (I-Portland) [Sho] would be a uniter, and that's what the city needs.Former Mayor Vera Katz I wanted Sho to run. [Sho is] somebody who understands the city, but maybe has a slightly different perspective.Laura THANK YOU FOR STAYING IN THE RACE! THANK YOU! We are cheering for you!!!!!!!!!!!D and S We are so happy to know you are going to stay in the race!
Sho KNOWS Portland and he will make a magnificent Mayor.
We'll make a campaign donation as soon as your site is able to process bank cards.
Chris I have NEVER endorsed a political candidate in my life. This is a first for me. We need someone in government who cares about the people in the city and not their personal agenda. I believe from what I have read that Sho is the person who can fill the position of Mayor and has the community's best interests at heart. I hope my "gut" feeling isn't wrong here. Thanks Sho for staying in the race. I have a limited budget, I live within my means, however I can spare $50 to your campaign support.Hal Pfingsten It\'s...SHO TIME!!!
I fled Portland years ago, both my business and my residence; with Sho as Mayor, I may move back! As far as I am concerned, Sho will be the best Mayor in seven decades. Even though I can\'t vote for him, I can send a contribution....S. Speight I am so glad you are staying in the race for Mayor. You are what Portland needs. I can't afford a larger donation, but I will be sending a check. I know that come January you will be the next Mayor.
Andrew Farris I have lived in Portland for over a year. In that time I have seen nothing more than infighting within the coucil and alot of pet projects funded by tax dollars run amuck.
As an openly gay man, I fully support Sho for Mayor. No longer can our city be run with the politics as usual approach that has allowed our roads, schools, and transportation to fall apart. GO SHO SHO!!Robert Roy Thanks for staying in the race- best of luck- my check is in the mailR The process of your disqualification from public funding was politically inspired and, at face value, ridiculous.
I don't have a job but will send $50 when your site accepts credit cards.
Good luck to you, Sho, as a person with great usable skill sets against a professional politician who, I presume, would be jobless too outside of the political/PR arena.Ret. Police Officer Dante Messina New York City Police Department On the first anniversary of 9/11 I was visiting Portland for my first time and was invited to take part in a commemoration ceremony. Sho Dozono was one of the primary supporters that helped put the event together. The outpouring of love by him and everyone from the community here has inspired me to return many times since then. I am proud to say, as a result, I have moved to Portland and am happier then ever . Thank you for welcoming me and demonstrating how much the Northwest really cares about people.CP, SW Portland Many of us in Portland are not wealthy; we live paycheck to paycheck and don't have the deep pockets to put our kids in private schools. Sho counters the current city hall opinion that citizens with more than 1.2 kids should probably live in Vancouver. I am also an avid bicyclist. I really resent politicians using the bicycle lobby as part of their faux "green" perspective. It is just using a little blue paint and a lot of rhetoric to get votes. I appreciate the fact that Sho is a businessman, and was a teacher. I think he has a lot more real world experience than lifelong politicians.
